Angelic Greetings!!

I hope that 2009 is off to a good start for you. Can you feel your angels nudging you to move forward? This is the time to take all you have learned and all the inner spiritual work you have done and put it to use for the good of humanity. I am so amazed and inspired by the many people I know who are doing this now. So many of you are creating new places, events, or careers for healing and spreading more love and light. That’s why I decided to add a section to this newsletter that highlights some of the great work that lightworkers are doing so we can all take advantage and support one another. If you have lightworker news to submit, email me at ellenwv@aol.com. Your Light has never been needed more. This is the time for which we have been preparing!

I also want to suggest some wonderful free meditations that are perfect for moving into the new energy and Light that is available now. If you feel guided, check them out at www.orindaben.com. Just click on the “free life-changing meditations” and you can listen right on your computer. I have found them to be very powerful and I believe they can help you make a shift in consciousness and bring more peace and harmony into your life.

Sprirituality on the Ski Slopes

A couple weeks ago, I ventured to Colorado for a family skiing trip. I absolutely love the mountains and the postcard scenery of blanketing snow and evergreens trimmed with white fluff. But let’s face it. I am a Florida girl, born and bred, and there is something about maneuvering on ice and snow that puts me way out of my comfort zone. And when we’re talking about maneuvering on skis, that puts me in a completely different zone – the zone of fear. Not very spiritual, I know.

It’s not like I haven’t tackled this fear before. A few years ago, on another family trip, I took a beginners ski class and a private lesson. And I did manage to ski the bunny slope a few times. But still, on this most recent trip, I considered passing up the skiing altogether. Then, I figured there was no harm in joining the beginners group again. I was actually a bit comfortable knowing I would be with people who had never skied before. Then, I opened my big mouth. When the head instructor asked me if I had ever skied before, I told the truth. “Well, then you’re in Level 2,” came his dreaded response. “ No, no, no, you don’t understand. It’s like I’ve never skied before,” I pleaded. “No, trust me. You’ll be fine.” And he brought me to Level 2. Yikes! My comfort zone was whisked away.

I had had a chat with Archangel Michael prior to this day of skiing, so I was not sure what was going on. Then, as always, I learned that Michael really had been listening. Instead of being in a huge beginners group, I was now with a wonderful instructor and just one other woman who hadn’t skied for 10 years. It was practically a private lesson, with plenty of attention, which I desperately needed! Still, I was anxious. But as the lesson went on, I had to laugh to myself at all the spiritual “lessons” I was getting from this ski instructor. Here are few examples:

- Breathe. “Okay, Ellen, before you come down this time, I want you to take 3 deep breaths,” he told me, trying to get me to relax a bit. It worked.

- Laugh and Have Fun. The instructor kept reminding us we were there on vacation and he wanted us all to laugh a lot and have fun. We did.

- Don’t Try So Hard or Think Too Much. Definitely, my least successful moments skiing that day came when I was trying too hard or thinking too much about what I was doing. Other times, I could feel myself getting in a flow when I wasn’t even trying. Just like life. He even had a great tactic for getting me out of my thoughts. “Sing a song in your head as you ski this portion.” Could I actually ski while singing a song? You laugh, but I wondered. Again, it worked.

- Let Go. We all know this is a hard one. Well, in order to complete a turn, you have to pretty much shift all your weight onto one ski while letting go of the pressure on the other one. This one proved difficult for me and I never completely mastered this. Hmmm…supposed I haven’t mastered “ letting go” spiritually yet, either. And it is so related to this last one….

- Trust. We worked on this one for a while. I loved the “lesson” here, even if I didn’t completely get it. The instructor drew a curved line in the snow, marking how a turn would go. He asked us at what point do the skis start speeding up. We knew because we had been experiencing it (and you know if you have ever skied), that just after you’ve rounded the curve of the turn, at the point where your skis are closest to pointing downhill, you begin to accelerate. This is where some people like me tend to give up on the turn. But, he said, if you just trust it and keep going, you are going to complete the turn and actually slow down. Wow, I thought, isn’t this just like manifesting our dreams and visions? Isn’t there this point when we are often close to getting what we want, but we give up on it because perhaps things are happening but we cannot see how we will get to the end goal? Or perhaps it seems like nothing is happening, so we give up. When, instead, at those challenging moments, if we would just continue to trust, we will get where we are intending to go.

In the end, I was glad I challenged myself and decided to ski that day. I learned a lot – about skiing and about myself. What I am proudest of are those brief moments, which were few and far between, when I was actually gliding on the snow effortlessly, without anxiety, feeling safe and in control, and even enjoying it. All things are possible.
