Happy Spring! I hope you
are enjoying all the beautiful sounds of spring. Going out in
nature and really tuning in to listen to all those sounds can
help you increase your “clairaudience,” your ability to hear
guidance from your angels. Another way we hear the angels’
messages to us is through music. A couple weeks ago, I kept
picking the angel cards about “music”. When that card comes up,
the angels are trying to tell us a couple of things. First, they
are communicating the importance of music in our lives.
Amazingly, as these music cards were surfacing, I was also
guided to pick up a book called “Walking With the Angels” which
has been sitting on my shelf untouched for several years. The
book includes wisdom channeled from the spirit guide, White
Eagle. Here is one of the passages I found:
“Angels of Music draw close to
those who call on them. When you know how to call on these
angelic beings they can pour into you creative power which
enables you to express more readily the music of your soul…No
words can describe the angels which come when there is beautiful
music to be heard. They are taking the substance, the colour and
the form which is being created by the sounds, and weaving it
into indescribably lovely forms.”
It goes on to talk about how the
vibrations of music touch our soul and how all great composers
receive inspiration from the angels to create the harmonies and
vibrations that humanity needs. Interesting stuff! This may
sound a bit complicated, but it is easy for us to experience. We
know that certain melodies or rhythms lift our mood, while
others make us feel melancholy. So the angels ask you to
surround yourself with the kind of music that you are guided to
at given moments. Trust what you are drawn to. And if you want
to shift your mood, select the kind of music that you know will
help shift that vibration.
The angels also want us to listen
to the songs that have messages for us. You know the ones --
those songs that are speaking directly to you from your I-pod or
car radio. Or maybe you’re hearing them in your head, like me. I
guess about the same time I was picking those music cards, I had
a funny thing happen. For several mornings in a row, I kept
waking up with this old Olivia Newton John song in my head. And
it’s happened a few times recently, too. I really haven’t heard
this song for years, and when you hear it, you’ll get a kick out
of it, I’m sure, as I have. Here’s the refrain that played in my
head:
“Let me be there in your morning. Let me be there in your night.
Let me take whatever’s wrong and make it right…”
Well, now maybe you won’t be able
to get that tune out of your head either. That’s what the angels
are hoping for I think. The angels want us to call on them as
soon we wake up to ask them to help us during the day ahead. And
call them at the end of the day to help clear the events and
energy of the day and ask for a restful night’s sleep. They
really want us all to remember that they are there for us day
and night!!
Baseball and the
“Get out of Jail Free” Card
Recently, we have been going
through this experience with our 12-year-old son that has
brought many lessons for all of us. He has been playing baseball
since he was 7 and even has had dreams in the past of being a
baseball player when he grows up. I suppose he imagined how
wonderful it would be to get paid for doing something you love
and something so fun. But what happens when the “fun” goes out
of it? The fun has been dying a slow death, I think, for the
past year. And now, this season, with a new team and a coach
that makes Simon Cowell look like a nice guy, the fun took a
final shot right in the heart.
Now, the kid who yearned for the ball to come to him so he could
make the play, tells us that it feels like prison to be in the
game. And he wants out.
Whoa!
So what you do when the fun, the joy you lived
for, gets extinguished? What do you when you feel trapped and
imprisoned? We’ve all experienced this phenomenon in jobs,
relationships, our goals, life circumstances. Do we give up?
Try harder? Persevere through the pain? Make a change? Look for
a way to resuscitate the joy you once felt? I suppose it depends
on the individual and the situation. There are no easy answers,
as we found in this situation.
Granted, baseball is just a game. But just like
life and all of its situations, it presented us with some great
opportunities for teaching and learning.
For instance, in dealing with a coach (or anyone in your life,
or that inner voice) that is constantly focusing on your
mistakes and not your accomplishments, there is the lesson of
believing in yourself no matter what that person (or that voice)
says to you. Our son truly demonstrated his strength of
character by recognizing that this situation was not for him and
having the courage to tell us how he felt. He also saw that
negative expectations beget negative results. And as my husband
wisely shared with my son and a few other boys the other night,
you always have to remember that someone’s opinion about you –
good or bad – is only that, an opinion.
Another lesson here was about changing your
perspective. It wasn’t easy but we tried to explain to our son
that he could change his experience by changing his perspective.
Constantly complaining and getting angry about his situation
were not helping. In fact, that was just making the whole
experience more miserable. When he played in what we thought
would be his last game, he approached the game with a different
perspective, deciding to have fun and relax as much as he could.
Mom decided to try the same. And what a difference for both of
us.
And what about this feeling of being in prison?
What a terrible feeling for a 12-year-old boy. I tried to
explain to him that no person or circumstance has the power to
do that to you. Only you choose to allow yourself to be
imprisoned. Again, it is how you look at things.
When I asked the angels for a little help on this
subject, they said that sadly, so many people feel trapped in so
many different ways. And today, there is a collective feeling of
being trapped by the outward appearance of the economic
conditions. They said: “These are all thoughts, beliefs, learned
behaviors and ideas. Yet we say that each being is Free. You
have the free will to experience life as you want and each being
deserves a rich, joyful life.” So why do we sometimes not choose
to change our circumstances for the better?
The angels said: “At times, it is easier to remain in a painful
situation than to break free, as is always the option, because
the being fears the unknown and fears that me might still feel
pain if he fails. It is easier to blame an outward situation,
circumstance, or person rather than look inward for the true
source of the pain and feeling of imprisonment. There is always
a choice.”
Well, we had all decided that
breaking free was the answer for the baseball scenario. And what
a relief it was…until circumstances (funny Universe!) aligned so
that he could not walk away at that precise moment. My son
remarked (in good humor) that he had been thrown back in jail
again. I reminded him that only he could put himself back in
jail. And I said he should give himself a “ Get Out of Jail
Free” card. He liked that, but took it a step further.
Actually, I’m “just visiting,” he said. We laughed. And when you
can laugh at the situation, the healing has begun.
My son bravely continued to take the field for
the next couple of weeks and I swear I could almost see a
glimmer of the “fun” returning. Still, it was not an easy
situation for him. We took it one game at a time, and did our
best to remember that it is just a game. And at last, the pieces
fell into place and my husband and I just knew it was time. The
decision we had grappled with finally seemed obvious and we quit
the team. The funny thing is that my son was not even asking us
to do it at that point. He had been learning to take it all in
stride and I guess he would have stuck it out if we insisted.
But as he knew, we saw clearly that this was not the right
situation, the right kind of energy for our son to be around.
And we didn’t want to take away all the wonderful things that
baseball had given him and taught him in a positive way. The
smile and look of relief on his face when I told him he was now
“free” was evidence that we had all made the right choice.
I will never forget how proud I was when he was 7
and caught his first fly ball. We’ve delighted in every hit,
walk, score, and out he’s made. But I have to say that my
husband and I have never been more proud of our son than during
this most challenging season.
The angels and I would like to offer you a gift
today – your own “Get Out of Jail Free” card to be used however
you want. The angels urge you to use it and at the same time
visualize yourself holding a key in your hand and opening the
door to the prison door and stepping out into freedom. They say
do not worry about the details, the how, but know that by giving
yourself permission to be free, miracles will happen. Do not be
afraid, they say, that you will have to let go of something or
someone you love. Being free means being free of that which does
not serve your highest good. So only those pieces of the
relationship or issue that need to fall away will. The angels
urge you to feel that feeling of freedom, beginning in your
imagination, as much you can.
Visualize your ideal, free life. And know that it is yours.
